Five old hospital buildings have been demolished in the last few months at the Klinikum Nord hospital in Nuremberg. The new “Dr. Theo Schöller-Haus” will take their place and the building will be ready for use by 2012. The demolition task was not a straightforward procedure with the wrecking ball. Big and small diggers tore down the individual buildings bit by bit - in some cases from the roof - and carefully sorted the materials into different piles, e.g. mineral rubble, scrap, combustible parts, and harmful substances requiring special disposal. The total amount of demolition waste which had to be taken away was 62,700 tons. The hospital insisted that special measures be taken to control and suppress the amount of dust - hence the use of a mobile remote-controlled dct40 unit with great results.

Compliance with international standards has become an indispensable necessity for companies. Over recent months TechnoAlpin has been working on the introduction of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System according to OHSAS 18001 with the aim of reducing accidents in the work place and improving health and safety for our employees. Along with the successful audit in early December, OHSAS 18001 certification will now also contribute to TechnoAlpin’s reputation on an international scale.

The 7th edition of the MAWEV Show, which was held in Kottingbrunn near Vienna on 25 - 28 March, was bigger than ever before. On 200,000 m² of floor space, more than a thousand state-of-the-art construction machines and vehicles went on show.

For the 15th time, Berlin hosted the German Demolition Conference on 20 - 21 March. The event – the biggest demolition conference in the whole of Europe – was again organized by Abbruch und Sprengtechnik Consult (ASCO GmbH), and more than 450 experts accepted their invitation to attend.

From 20 – 23 January the Swedish city of Gothenburg (Göteborg) is holding the 2009 Byggmaskiner or Building Machinery Fair. Byggmaskiner is the only trade show for the rental industry in the field of construction plant and equipment in Sweden and is now a regular item on the calendar of events for the Scandinavian construction industry. This year sees the debut at Byggmaskiner of dust-laying sprayers from TechnoAlpin pro air solutions.
