Abatement of uncontrolled harmful emissions:

Up until now, preventing the uncontrolled emission of harmful substances has only been possible with great difficulty. This leaves companies and plants with a problem:

Problem

  • Inadvertent harmful emissions caused by accidents and cleaning operations at chemical plants can cause huge damage - as well as inflicting severe harm on the reputation of the chemical industry.
  • Chemical industrial sites are often located close to residential and commercial areas. When harmful substances are released, there are generally immediate consequences for local residents.

There is currently no system available on the market with scientifically proven effectiveness in practical applications.

Innovative solution

Innovative solutionIn an innovative process, water is atomized to produce ultra-fine aerosols and is sprayed across a wide area using high-performance turbines.

Extensive research project verifies effectiveness

Extensive research project verifies effectivenessThe necessary scientific research and trials were conducted at the Saxony-Anhalt Fire Service Institute in Heyrothsberge in Germany. In an extensive series of authentic tests, the aerosols were proven to be effective in abating and washing away harmful substances. After this successful series of tests, further tests were conducted at MEMC and EVONIK production sites in Italy.

In all the test runs, it was established that the technology supports the generation of aerosol barriers on a large scale. These barriers can be used for the abatement of harmful substances at large production plants and at factory boundaries.

Efficiency through automation

Efficiency through automationThis newly developed equipment for the abatement of uncontrolled emissions of clouds of harmful substances is designed as a fully automatic system. It can be operated manually by a push-button control or automatically via sensors. The system ramps up to full effectiveness in seconds and is controlled and adjusted to the prevailing wind conditions via sensors.

Benefits

  • No alarm response delays
  • No time needed to assemble equipment
  • No personnel required
  • Applied in seconds
  • Adjusts automatically to wind conditions
  • Relatively low water consumption
  • All types of drinking water and fire-fighting water can be used
  • Effectiveness verified by an independent public institution

Options for application

Options for applicationHarmful emissions can be abated or washed away with different configurations and layouts of the turbines. The ideal way of calculating the requirements for any given system is to use simulations. The simulations identify the ideal location for the turbines based on the potential sources of harmful substances, the height and width of the plant, and the wind direction. They form the basis for planning the system.

In summary, the following application strategies are possible:
  • Barrier generation.
  • Immediate abatement of emissions sources at and in plants.
  • Immediate abatement of emissions sources, including at altitude, by dispersing (i.e. tracking) the harmful substance cloud in the direction of the wind using aerosols.

Fire Service Institute confirms effectiveness

The Saxony-Anhalt Fire Service Institute in Heyrothsberge conducted large-scale trials to test the efficiency of the system and “unequivocally verified the effectiveness of the test installations for the specified task”.
